Gorilla in the Mist

The album includes two stories: «Gorilla in the Mist» and «Ordinary Holidays».

In the first story, Spirou and Fantasio embark on an expedition to Kilimakali to shoot a photo-report about the life of mountain gorillas. In the village of Molomonga, they... learn that strange things are happening at the mine. Six months ago, Doctor Zwart went into the forest and did not return, then the natives began to disappear. The village is in horror: the natives are convinced that the gorillas are kidnapping people! The mine engineers persuade Spirou and Fantasio that there are no gorillas on the southern slope of Kilimakali. In the evening, out of nowhere, their car catches fire. Fortunately, they manage to pull out a box with camera equipment, otherwise they would have to give up the ascent. In the morning, the friends leave the mine accompanied by a guide and three porters. When they cross the river, the rope bridge collapses beneath them and part of the gear sinks. Then one of the porters disappears. And when, exhausted from the difficult journey, they finally reach the misty land of the monkeys, their camp is surrounded by warriors of the Wagundu tribe. Of course, all this is not without reason, and soon the friends learn who is hindering them and why…

In the second story, Spirou and Fantasio go on holiday for new impressions. In a southern city, they park their blue convertible near a casino and head to the center. By chance, Fantasio forgets the ignition key in the car. At that very moment, the oil tycoon Ibn Mazud exits the casino. In half an hour, he lost two million at the roulette table. He is looking for a red convertible with a driver and angrily strides towards Spirou and Fantasio's convertible, mistaking it for his, as he cannot distinguish colors. The driver is not present, but the key is stuck in the lock! Finally, he can get behind the wheel himself! He has been deprived of this happiness for a long time, as he is notoriously famous for his accidents. And now the blue «Turboturbo» is racing towards the city center with the worst driver in the world at the wheel…  

The spirited little boy Spirou in a bright red groom's suit, first appearing on the cover of the magazine of the same name in 1938, is a true legend of Franco-Belgian comics. For 85 years now, together with his friend, tireless journalist Fantasio, and faithful companion, a clever squirrel named Spip, he has been traveling the world, making thousands of amazing discoveries. The series of his adventures comprises more than 50 volumes, and the opportunity to draw at least one story about Spirou is an honor for the best comic artists in Europe. A significant event in Spirou's life is his meeting with André Franquin (1924–1997). The talented artist worked on the series for almost a quarter of a century. Eight of Franquin's best albums, including «Spirou and the Heirs», «The Eel's Lair», «Rhino Horn», «Bad Head», «The Nest of the Marsupilami», are being published in Russian for the first time.
