Empire of the Sun. The Kindness of Women

Jim struggles to forget his past and find inner stability. He enrolls in the medical faculty of one of the colleges in Cambridge. Later, influenced by childhood memories of kamikazes, the bombings of Shanghai and Nagasaki, he trains to be a pilot in the Royal Air Force. But stability turns out to be an illusion. Jim plunges into the whirlwind of the sixties, becoming an active participant in the cultural and social revolution, and tries to make sense of the upheavals happening in the West.
