The Smell of Money

During his fifty years of writing, British crime author Renée Brabazon Raymond (1906–1985) published about ninety crime novels and changed several creative pseudonyms. The most famous of them is James Hadley Chase. "I, like a bloodhound, take the trail and sense what the reader wants. And what he will buy" – this is how the master explained the success of his novels, willingly revealing the golden secret: readers are attracted by "action and rhythm".
This publication features a series of novels about CIA agent Mark Girland, created by Chase between 1965 and 1969. Four magnificent spy thrillers, the main character of which is a former employee of the American special services. Mark Girland is no longer on the CIA payroll, but the agency reaches out to him when no one else can accomplish the difficult task. He is a Bond-like character: brave and decisive, he knows how to find a way out of any situation, always achieves his goals, and is also a handsome playboy. However, unlike James Bond, he does not like to leave his cozy apartment, values his independence too much, and occasionally enjoys pulling one over on his boss.
