Whale on the Shallows

1938. A dead whale has washed up on the shore of a remote Welsh island. For Manod, a young girl who has spent her whole life here with her father and sister, it seems both a harbinger of doom and a symbol of what might lie beyond the territory. Two English ethnographers have come to the island, hoping to study the local culture. The longer they stay, the stronger Manod feels drawn to them, drawn to somewhere she has never been before… Will Manod be able to resist the desire to escape from her home island and leave the community that has meant everything to her?
