Echoes of Our Lives

Betty was at the mall with her mom and sister when the shooting began. They were not physically harmed, but the experience left a mark on each of them: her once lively sister withdrew into herself, and her mom became so immersed in the fight for stricter gun control that Betty nearly stopped seeing her. Desperate for answers to her haunting questions, Betty seeks out Michael, the shooter's brother. If she befriends him, she might learn to recognize warning signs and prevent tragedy – and finally feel safe. But the simple answers she yearns for do not exist. And this path only shows her that all her notions of herself and the world can change in an instant.
