Juche. My Country – My Fortress

Kim Il Sung – the founder of the North Korean state (DPRK) and its leader from 1948 to 1994; after his death, he was declared the "eternal president" of North Korea. Kim Jong Il, the son of Kim Il Sung,... led the DPRK from 1994 to 2011, continuing his father's work. The politics and ideology of both leaders of the DPRK were based on the concept of "juche," – an idea where Marxism is combined with Confucianism and traditional Korean religion. To this day, "juche" is the foundation of life in North Korea, exerting a certain influence on other countries in the Far East.
In the book by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, their most significant works on juche are collected, demonstrating how a state can develop practically independently of the outside world, relying exclusively on its traditions and customs.
