Peregrine

For ten years, writer John Alec Baker followed peregrines—the fastest birds on Earth.
As he moved through forests, gardens, and wastelands along the English North Sea coast, he observed them stalking their prey, resting, hunting, and killing.
Diving deeper into the world of these magnificent and ruthless creatures, which were on the brink of extinction at the time, he seemed to become one of them himself.
"Peregrine," first published in 1967, is a recognized masterpiece of nature writing, where naturalistic accuracy is combined with poetic power, and observing the bird becomes an act of inner transformation.
