Aeneid

"Aeneid" is the main work of the Roman poet Publius Vergilius Maro, one of the most outstanding representatives of Latin literature. The poem was written in the 1st century BC and became the national epic of Ancient Rome. The work tells the fate of the Trojan hero Aeneas, who, after the fall of Troy, embarks on a long and challenging journey to establish a new homeland - future Rome. Aeneas is awaited by long wanderings, storms, and battles; he will visit Carthage, Sicily, and Italy, and ultimately lay the foundations of the future Roman state. The poem consists of 12 books. It combines ancient myths, heroism, and reflections on fate. "Aeneid" is not just a literary work. It is also an important source of knowledge about the culture and history of Ancient Rome.
