Baron Munchausen: Germany - Russia - and beyond

The name of Baron Munchausen - the incorrigible liar, fabricator, and fantasist - is known to everyone since childhood. Many also know that the person with this name - the real Hieronymus Karl Friedrich von Münchhausen - actually lived in... Germany in the 18th century and left a memory of himself in Russia, where he served in the military. But what was this man really like? What events from his real biography served as the basis for his amusing tales? And what role did the authors of the first printed works written in his name, the German writers R. E. Raspe and G. A. Bürger, play in creating the legendary image?
To answer these and many other questions, the book's author, writer Sergey Makeev, traveled the earthly roads of the real Munchausen in Germany and Russia, and then the fantastical paths of the fictional baron. It turned out that attempts to separate one from the other succeed only partially and only for a short time - for these two characters, by a strange law of mutual attraction, continually merge into an inseparable unity, continuing even today to amaze us with new facets of their extraordinary personality.
