The life of American pilot Miki was very simple: he fought for his country, followed the orders of superiors, and dreamed of returning home.

His death was simple as well. In the summer of 1945, his bomber crashed over Japanese soil.

But his soul remained aimlessly wandering the streets of the city, over which he had recently scattered leaflets, encouraging the Japanese to evacuate. A city where people, though exhausted by war, continue to love and hope. A city where single mother Kiyomi and her daughter Ai live, and observing them, he suddenly discovered new feelings within himself. A city where the inhabitants – just like him – make Miki suddenly doubt that his commanders were right.
