«The Blind Owl» — the opus magnum of the outstanding Iranian writer Sadegh Hedayat. The author began this novella during his studies in France and completed and published it in India, almost ten years later. A surreal narrative about a... heartbroken artist haunted in his dreams by the shadow of an owl and whose reality is invaded by strange people, as if they are messengers from the afterlife, — a woman with bottomless eyes and an old dervish with a barking laugh. «The Blind Owl» quickly gained recognition in the literary circles of Europe and became the best work of Iranian literature of the 20th century.
This edition includes, in addition to the titular novella, the stories of Sadegh Hedayat — «The Vagabond Akol», «Tomorrow», «The Patriot», «Hadji Morad» and the satirical play «The Legend of Creation».
