Either-Or

The current edition includes fragments of Kierkegaard's main work "Either-Or" (1843): the pieces "Aphorisms on Aesthetics", "The Most Unhappy One", "Harmonious Development of Aesthetic and Ethical Principles in Human Personality". But the most significant among them is "The Seducer's Diary"... — a mesmerizing story of temptation and virtuoso seduction, transformed into pure art. In this first-person novel, Kierkegaard's complex relationship with his beloved Regina Olsen is presented deeply and poetically. Through the images of fictional characters, a young girl with a Shakespearean name Cordelia and the alluring aesthete Johannes, the philosopher illustrates the ideal strategy of love subjugation, which includes playing with human feelings and emotions. The edition contains illustrations and commentaries on the texts.
