The book is dedicated to the issues of theory and practice of contemporary American psychoanalysis by Hyman Spotnitz and his followers. The publication reveals modern aspects of the main concepts of psychoanalysis - narcissistic transference, five types of resistance according to Spotnitz, and various forms of countertransference. For the first time, a clinical classification and description of the most commonly encountered countertransference resistances are proposed. The theoretical aspects of psychoanalytic methodology are illustrated with expressive clinical cases and examples. A large part of the book is directly devoted to practical issues of the psychoanalysis of pre-Oedipal patients, including the results of the authors' own research.
