Beasts of the Small Land

1917. Korea - a Japanese colony. A peasant family in desperate circumstances sells their ten-year-old daughter named Yashma to a school for courtesans. Her only close friend becomes an orphan boy, Chun-ho, a beggar from the streets of Seoul. As they grow up, Chun-ho finds himself involved in the revolutionary struggle for the country's independence, while Yashma becomes a sought-after artist. Fate carries the characters of Chuhe Kim to various places: from the fashionable cafes of Seoul to the snowy forests of Manchuria, and somewhere between the pages lies a tiger.
