Eleanor of Aquitaine

Regine Pernoud is a renowned researcher of medieval history. She has written books about Joan of Arc, the Crusaders, Richard the Lionheart, and many other heroes of world history. Eleanor of Aquitaine, one of the wealthiest and most influential women... of French medieval times, played a decisive role in the conflict between England and France. Her entire life resembles an adventurous novel: she participated in the Second Crusade, was married at different times to rival kings, and became famous as a wise ruler of vast territories. Her descendants became rulers of medieval Europe, and tales and songs were composed about her beloved son Richard the Lionheart. Eleanor's name entered legend even during her lifetime.
