In the classic fundamental work of the German scholar August Müller, dedicated to the history of Islam, the pre-Islamic history of the Arabs and the history of the Arabs from the prophet Muhammad to the fall of the Arab Abbasid dynasty are analyzed. Due to the richness of the material and the breadth of coverage of countries and events, as well as the titanic efforts of the author in processing Arab written sources, 'The History of Islam' remains one of the most important studies today. Many terms, concepts, and names in the text are left exactly as the author wrote them. For the thoughtful reader, it will not be difficult to correlate the author's interpretation of words with their modern spelling.
The academician Baron V.R. Rosen said about this book: '...I know of no other work that provides such a clear, coherent, and meaningful general overview of predominantly external history of the Muslim world, not to mention that it also offers substantial and valuable insights and clarifications on many specific issues, which testify both to the conscientiousness with which the author checked his predecessors against the sources available to him and to the independence of his views.'
This edition includes volumes 1 and 2 of 'The History of Islam'.
