They are both thirteen years old, have similar names - Adrien and Adrian - and a whole bunch of common interests: first love, failures at school, complicated relationships with parents. They discuss all of this in their correspondence, taking turns... dropping letters into mailboxes that mysteriously appeared next to their houses. And even though the mailboxes are different in color from the ones the boys are used to - Adrien in the city, and Adrian in his village - the letters reliably reach their recipients.
However, with each passing letter, the boys begin to feel like there is a good hundred years between them: Adrian doesn’t know what the word "cool" means or what sneakers are; Adrien doesn’t understand how one can live without a mobile phone and the internet.
