He increasingly remembers his exile from Paradise, evenings with Mary Magdalene, meetings with Jesus, and the prophecy of the Second Coming… While the reader is occupied with the detective, romantic, and historical elements of the novel, the author begins a game with them. The duchess and the devil are unreliable narrators. You will have to choose which version of the ending to believe in.
