The Treasure of the Seven Stars

In "The Treasure of the Seven Stars," Bram Stoker brings to life yet another classic Victorian horror story about an Egyptian queen who will stop at nothing to be reborn. The fascination, one might even say obsession, with Egypt was... rapidly growing at the time: expeditions, excavations, and collectors were acquiring many different artifacts. Dark tales of mummies, pharaohs, and curses appeared in huge quantities in both sensational stories and in "great" literature.
Stoker wrote this novel six years after the release of "Dracula." And it was one of the first stories about the resurrection of an ancient Egyptian mummy. The novel raises themes of imperialism, the "New Woman," feminism, and technological progress.
