When several people burned alive in their homes under mysterious circumstances, Abby Mullen, a negotiator for the New York Police Department, felt immediately: the horrors of the past have returned. As a girl, Abby miraculously escaped a fire set by Moses Wilcox, a fanatical cult leader. He was presumed dead for thirty years. But now his traces remain at all crime scenes... Meanwhile, the arsons have attracted the FBI's attention, and a storm against serial killers rises with brilliant profiler Zoe Bentley. Zoe has never dealt with cultists before. She needs someone who understands Moses's thoughts – someone like Abby Mullen... For Abby, this is a huge stress. Many memories she wishes to bury forever: of the cult that poisoned her childhood, of the fire that killed her family, and of the man who caused it... But unexpectedly, the tandem of the profiler and the negotiator begins to work. The hunt for the killer will continue – even if it means tearing apart the burning remains of Abby's past with bare hands...
