Found, Alive! Notes on the Search Team LizaAlert

The forest, where it is so fun to pick mushrooms in the summer, seems familiar, like one's own five fingers, and the native town with its streets and squares is small and cozy. Until someone gets lost in it: a loved one, a best friend, a neighbor, someone's grandmother, or a stranger's child. This book is about how people search and find, how they learn to constructively empathize and act even in the most alarming situations. It is simultaneously the notes of a journalist and the diary of a volunteer from the search and rescue team 'LisaAlert', which does everything to ensure that the missing person is not lost. What is it like to be inside the search, to be the driving force that seeks to quickly bridge the gap between the searchers and the person wandering in the dark? Anxiety, bad omens, fear, good will, and responsibility. All this is absorbed by one desire — to find the person alive. What to do when relatives do not want to help in the search? Does a searcher have the right to promise something to the family of the missing? Why was the team created? What motives guide these people? There are many answers, they are very different, sometimes unexpected. In 2020, the book 'Found, Alive' won the 'Living Stories' category of the 'Reader's Choice' award from LiveLib.
