Water Knife

The middle of the 21st century. A great drought reigns in the southwestern states of the USA, water supplies are rapidly diminishing, and large cities are engaged in a deadly struggle for access to the last hydro resources. Ángel Velasquez, a professional spy and assassin hired by the Southern Nevada Water Authority, uses the harshest methods to ensure that water goes only to "those who deserve it" and to prevent the luxurious life in the archaeological complexes built in Las Vegas from withering away. One day he receives an assignment to head south to neighboring Arizona and find out why its dehydrated capital is not only still alive but, even more dangerously, has a chance to be reborn... In addition to the novel "Water Knife," the collection includes stories that are plot-wise connected to it.
