Divine Comedy. Hell

Lost in a dense forest, the lyrical hero of Dante Alighieri's poem "Divine Comedy" meets his beloved poet Virgil, who calls him to embark on a journey through all three realms of the afterlife. Following Virgil through Hell and Purgatory, stepping past the sinners who atone for their sins, Dante heads toward the gates of Paradise, where his beloved muse Beatrice awaits him.

"Divine Comedy" had a tremendous influence on all subsequent world culture. Raphael, Salvador Dalí, and Sandro Botticelli, Franz Liszt, Thomas Eliot, and Jorge Luis Borges — all paid tribute to the great poem in their works.
