Through Barbed Wire. Memories of a Doctor, Prisoner of the Kaunas Ghetto

Doctor Miron Ginkas (1921-1983) was a prisoner of the Kaunas ghetto for two years, escaped with his family, and hid for another year in a Nazi-occupied city. He recorded his memories of this time primarily for his children and grandchildren, understanding that a book about the Holocaust had no chance of publication in Soviet publishers. But essentially, all of us who live today are the children and grandchildren of those who survived, and these memories are addressed to all of us. The publication of this book is in memory of those who faced death every day just for being "marked" for death, for whom survival and saving loved ones became a vital goal. In memory of those who did not survive and could not tell about their experiences. In memory of those who, risking their lives and freedom, helped, rescued, and sheltered.
