Guns of Navarone

Alistair MacLean (1922–1987) – a British writer, author of 28 thrillers and adventure stories, screenwriter. He was among the top ten best-selling authors in the world; MacLean's books have sold over 150 million copies, and 18 films have been made based on his novels, screenplays, and plots. In 1983, the University of Glasgow awarded the writer an honorary doctorate in literature. From 1941 to 1946, MacLean served in the navy, participated in military operations and polar convoys, which provided him with rich material for creativity and defined the themes of his best books. This collection, which includes four works of the military-adventure genre, opens with the famous novel "Guns of Navarone." A group of British commandos is ordered to destroy a German coastal battery in the Aegean Sea in the shortest possible time...
