Minnesota, summer of 1977. Carefree times for teenagers: bonfire parties, a fair smelling of firecrackers and popcorn, walks through tunnels beneath the city. But not everyone can afford to have fun… Heather and Brenda have a secret. What they saw in the dark. What they cannot forget. What they swore to never tell anyone. But when their friend goes missing — the second girl in a week! — Heather begins to doubt whether she made the right decision… She realizes that the disappearances are somehow connected to what she and Brenda stumbled upon that night and wants to ask for help, but her parents just shrug, friends mock, and the police remain indifferent. And the most terrifying thing — Heather suddenly realizes: NONE of them can be trusted. The season of hunting for teenage girls has opened in the city. And Heather knows she is the next target…
