The book presents the fairy tale story by Frank Baum about the adventures of a girl named Dorothy and her loyal friends in the Wonderful Land. On the way to the Emerald City, the friends must overcome many dangers and... perform numerous heroic deeds.
The story is adapted using Ilya Frank's method: it is accompanied by a word-for-word translation into Russian and necessary lexical-grammatical commentary (without simplifying the original text).
The uniqueness of the method lies in the fact that memorization of words and expressions happens through their repetition, without rote learning or the need to use a dictionary. Moreover, the reader gets accustomed to the logic of the English language and begins to "feel" it.
