Narrow Gates. Counterfeiters

French writer André Gide created for 60 years, becoming one of the most prominent authors and thinkers of his country. "Narrow Gates" is a novella permeated with Chekhov's lyricism about first love, which critics consider to be his most perfect work. Jérôme and Alice, cousins, are in love with each other. But the devout girl rejects the prejudicial feeling in favor of morality. The novel "Counterfeiters" is recognized as innovative in form and scandalous in content. It is simultaneously a multi-plot panorama of French life after the First World War, a summary of the moral, intellectual, and aesthetic searches of the author, and a mirror reflection of the history of the creation of the novel itself.
