Human Head: Fundamentals of Academic Drawing: Educational Edition

The main theoretical and methodological issues of depicting the human head are outlined. A complete set of basic academic drawing assignments is provided, arranged in a strict sequence of increasing complexity. The fundamentals of composition, perspective, proportions, the laws of... light and shadow, and plastic anatomy are considered, and notions of form, volume, and construction are given. Special attention is paid to the methodology of constructively-structural representation, as well as to the constructive-anatomical analysis of such a complex living form as the human head, based on the patterns of its structure. The basic principles of drawing from life are presented, which contribute to the formation and development of volumetric-spatial representations and the improvement of graphic skills.
