Venice is a Fish

Venice, sung by poets, is one of the most visited and famous cities in the world. Tiziano Scarpa offers a new perspective on it. Venice is a fish. If you look closely at its contours on a geographical map, it resembles a giant flounder, sprawled on the bottom of the lagoon, or a dorade gliding across the waves. Venice is a turtle. Its stone shell is made of gray stone, which lines the streets. Venice is a place where you should throw away the map and get lost. Scarpa reveals the city's secrets known only to Venetians, the primordial language of Venice, necessary to better understand the city. The author urges the reader to use all the senses: to touch, hear, see, and feel the city; the mind should give way to feelings, namely to the heart, which certainly cannot be commanded in Venice.
