A long time ago, Itala Caruso, the police "queen" managing an extensive corruption network, was forced to imprison a man falsely accused of kidnapping and murdering three teenage girls. Thirty years later, a new kidnapping occurs - and the victim, sixteen-year-old Amala, understands that she is unlikely to escape alive unless she finds a way to break free herself. However, Amala is being searched for. She is being sought by Francesca Cavalcante, her mother’s sister, a lawyer who thirty years ago failed to protect the innocent from prison - and now she suspects that the serial killer who was then free has returned to his old ways. Also searching for Amala is someone named Jerry, a dog lover with extensive knowledge in the most unexpected fields, seemingly just an Israeli tourist who, however, rushed to Italy as soon as the news of the new kidnapping broke and is ready to do anything to save the girl. Even murder. Sandrone Dazieri is a renowned Italian author of thrillers and noirs, bestsellers that are successfully published in thirty countries. "The Evil That People Do" is his new novel, and it will contain everything we expect from a thriller: terrifying secrets, ghostly chases, deceptive moves, unforgettable characters - and if we are very lucky, perhaps by the end justice will prevail, though there are certainly no guarantees. For the first time in Russian!
