The English Patient

«The English Patient» — a story that has won major literary awards. The novel received the Booker Prize in 1992. In 2018, «The English Patient» was awarded a special «Golden Booker» prize, which was timed to the 50th anniversary of... the Booker Prize. It is awarded based on reader voting, considering this book the best novel from the Booker list over 50 years. The book was adapted for the screen in 1996 by director Anthony Minghella. The film won nine «Oscars», including «Best Film» and «Best Director».

He met her when she arrived with her husband in North Africa. He fell in love with her when she quoted Herodotus sitting by the fire on a southern night. He lost her when she became everything in his life.

She sees in him the normal life that was taken away by World War II. His condition is deteriorating, his memory is fading, slipping away like sand through fingers.
