Vera hates her gift of bringing fantasies to life. Once, she brought a guy to life, and he killed her friend before her eyes. Now all Vera wants is to forget what happened and live a normal life.
But fate has other plans: one night, a sinister old woman comes to her and forcibly passes on her gift. It turns out to be one of the four Great Maidens — the ancient Winter, and the gift she passed to Vera is the ability to stop a human heart with cold.
To rid herself of the terrible gift, Vera must find out who killed her predecessor and who is really behind her friend's death. And most importantly — why did the Winter Maiden choose her? Is it not because the true monster is herself?..
