It includes not only all the stories about Deniska and his friends but also stories about life sixty years ago. They were written by Denis Dragunsky, a prose writer and the son of the author. He told how they played hide and seek in communal apartments and raced bicycles in the yard, about soda with syrup and general’s buttons, about what is fiction in "Deniska's Stories" and what actually happened.
