Muslim Apocrypha about Christ: Anthology

The tradition formed by the Gospels about the image and teachings of Jesus Christ has, throughout history, become the inheritance not only of Christian dogma but has also permeated other religious systems, particularly Islam. For a whole millennium from the... VIII to the XVIII century, Muslim writers and scholars across a vast area from Spain to China reflected on the most important elements of the Gospel narratives, giving them new, sometimes peculiar interpretations in accordance with the teachings of the Quran. The fragments of these works, collected in this anthology, allow for acquaintance with the little-known tradition of the religious-cultural dialogue between the two monotheistic religions.
