The Loyal One

In 2016, the novel by Viet Thanh Nguyen 'The Sympathizer' won the Pulitzer Prize. 'The Loyal One' continues the story of the same protagonist, a former spy burdened, inconveniently, by conscience and moral principles. In 1980s Paris, he is awaited by an exquisite society of intellectuals, work in the dark criminal underground, and a tragic contradiction between the two people he holds most dear, the resolution of which can likely come only through death — the question is whose exactly and under what circumstances.
