Maria-Louise von Franz (1915–1998) — author of monographs dedicated to the psychological interpretation of dreams, fairy tales, and alchemical treatises. Her interest in alchemy was inherited from her renowned teacher C.G. Jung. As von Franz herself writes, Jung first turned... to alchemy in search of a language that would allow him to describe the experience of diving into the unconscious. The result of this exploration is the method of symbolic interpretation and understanding of traditional alchemical practices developed by Jung, which he sees as an attempt to express the unconscious content of our psyche. Following the trend set by Jung, von Franz takes on the ambitious task of psychologically interpreting the anonymous medieval treatise "Aurora Consurgens," attributed to St. Thomas Aquinas. This book will be useful to all interested in psychology and philosophy, as well as to a wide range of readers.
