Reading Circle

"Reading Circle" by L. N. Tolstoy is one of the most significant philosophical works of the 20th century, an important work from the later period of the writer's life and creativity. The book brings together the thoughts of great sages and writers, and it was initially titled "Thoughts of Many Writers on Truth, Life, and Conduct". L. Tolstoy sought to achieve the effect of losing authorship, as in folk literature and folklore, through the organic fusion of borrowed thoughts with his own, in order to "provide... a daily reading circle that stimulates the best thoughts and feelings".
