The illustrations by the honored artist of Russia, corresponding member of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences and Arts Stanislav Kovalyov for the tales of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin have long become as much of a classic as the famous poetic tales.... This is firmly believed by the numerous admirers of the artist's work. In the 40 years since the creation of the illustrations, the tales of A.S. Pushkin decorated by S. Kovalyov have been published in 16 European languages, released in Japan and China, and captured millions of readers around the world.
