The Human Head. Fundamentals of Academic Drawing

The main theoretical and methodological issues of depicting the human head are outlined. A complete set of basic academic drawing tasks is provided, arranged in a strict sequence of increasing complexity. The foundations of composition, perspective, proportions, laws of light and shadow, and plastic anatomy are discussed, along with concepts of form, volume, and construction. Special attention is given to the methodology of constructive-structural representation, as well as the constructive-anatomical analysis of such a complex living form as the human head, based on the regularities of its structure. The basic principles of still life drawing are presented, which contribute to the formation and development of volumetric-spatial representations and the improvement of graphic skills. 
The textbook is intended for students of art and architectural universities and faculties, as well as for students of vocational art schools. It can be recommended as a theoretical, methodological, and practical guide for teachers and instructors of art schools and colleges.
