Amazing medieval tales about castles and their surroundings have reached us from folk storytellers. These are stories where Christian miracles coexist with mystical transformations, where brave knights and beautiful princesses live, where there is pure and sincere love.
The author of the book, Ekaterina Vyacheslavovna Balobanova (1847–1927) — a Russian writer, librarian, and educator, an expert in the Celtic language and literature. This collection includes legends of Brittany and Rennes, gathered by her from local residents during her travels in Europe in the 1860s – 1870s.
The book is accompanied by numerous illustrations, including early works by the artist E.E. Lansere, created for the publication of 1899.
