I Memorize Syllables. Notebook No. 3. Supplement to the Engaging Primer.

Recognition of the written word (syllable) largely depends on whether the child is familiar with this word and in what environment (context) it is encountered. Based on this, the notebooks mainly offer words for reading that are quite familiar to... most children. However, the notebook also includes a number of less frequently encountered words with the aim of expanding the vocabulary of young readers, to develop their ability to acquire, retain, and retrieve information from memory. To this end, various tasks are proposed in the process of which the child becomes acquainted with a number of wonderful literary works. Thus, to familiarize with the word "lady", the poem by Marshak "Luggage" is read, while the child learns the word "parachute" from the corresponding chapter of Nosov's tale about Neznaika. By developing a taste for carefully selected poems and prose, children do not simply learn to read, but absorb the achievements of Russian and world literature, and learn to understand cultural values. Completing tasks aimed at developing the ability to identify analogies leads to mastering the system of their native language, developing linguistic sensitivity, and serves as a prerequisite for the successful future study of foreign languages. Acquaintance with phraseologisms, proverbs, and sayings allows one to feel the richness and expressiveness of the Russian language. By performing comparison tasks and solving riddles, the child develops mentally. The proposed notebooks are commonly referred to as "workbooks". And not without reason: in addition to learning to read and raising cultural awareness, the child learns to think and work.
