Favorite Heroes Book for Reading in English

The manual includes excerpts from such classical English-language works as "Oliver Twist" by Charles Dickens, "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Brontë, "Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson, "The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier" by Arthur Conan Doyle, "The Headless Horseman" by... Thomas Mayne Reid, and "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" by Mark Twain. The collection also contains fragments of the British epic about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, as well as excerpts from English folk ballads about Robin Hood. The texts are adapted for high school students and are accompanied by questions to check comprehension.
The adaptation of the works, the dictionary, and the exercises were done by Y.B. Golitsynsky. All texts and assignments are recorded on a compact disc, the listening of which will help students master pronunciation and learn to understand English speech by ear.
