— 0–3 months: can distinguish contrasting images (for example, like a chessboard). Visual sharpness increases.

— 3–5 months: distinguishes objects by size and begins to respond to yellow, red, then green and blue.

— 11–12 months: selectivity of environmental parameters appears, sensitivity to contrasts approaches the final level.

By the end of the first year, children pronounce their first words – at this stage, the fold-out book can be used as the baby’s basic visual dictionary.
