In her long life, Nadezhda Alexandrovna Teffi (1872–1952) seems to have made her mark in all literary genres. But despite the variety of plots in the writer's works, three main themes clearly dominated. Most often, she wrote about children, about... the "younger brothers" and about the most varied types of women. The "women's" theme, which modern critics recognized as a revolution in literature, is dedicated to this volume. It consists of selected stories, including those not included in her lifetime collections, as well as the only example of the novel genre in Teffi's work. The book is accompanied by lyrical and ironic illustrations by Olga Grablevskaya.
