In a fashionable district of Paris, British collector Lord Littleby and all staff of his mansion were brutally murdered. A unique gold statuette of the Indian god Shiva and one of the painted Indian shawls were stolen from the renowned... collection of Eastern rarities.
Detective Gustave Gosh from the Paris prefecture begins to investigate the case. In the hand of the murdered man, he discovers the emblem of a golden whale. It turns out this is the emblem of the wonder ship "Leviathan," which is embarking on its maiden voyage to India. All first-class passengers were given such a golden whale along with their tickets.
