"The content of my book is myself, and this is by no means a reason for you to devote your leisure to such a lightweight and insignificant subject" — thus characterizes his own work Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592). Yet people... today still find pleasure in reading his "Essays." Why? Apparently, it is precisely because Montaigne himself remains relevant — a philosopher, an intellectual, a wit. A contemporary author described him as a "typical blogger," and there is much truth in this provocative characterization.
