Beauty and Ugliness: Conversations on Art and Reality

This book is a conversation by Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh (1914–2003), which he held in 1982 at the University of Kent as part of readings dedicated to the memory of Christian poet Thomas Eliot. The bishop speaks about beauty and... creativity, images and reality, ugliness and deformity. This material is unique—it has never been fully published in Russia, and practically none of the numerous conversations by Metropolitan Anthony contain such a broad reference to poetry and visual arts. Despite the seemingly distant topic from theology, the bishop fills it with the deepest theological content.
