We all know the tales of Snow White, of the Puss in Boots, of Sleeping Beauty… Or do we? Ancient stories, which initially existed in oral form, and later were recorded by enthusiasts, have come down to us in a distorted form, altered to suit the times, politics, or the whims of the author. Una Hart, the author of the duology "Troll Peak" and the novel "When the Dead Begin to Sing," has been researching the world of fairy tales for many years, meticulously gathering information and restoring the original appearance of familiar stories. In this collection, she reveals these familiar tales with her characteristic mastery of style and subtle irony, allowing us to look at them from a new perspective. The magical illustrations by Lidia Magonova complement the text, sparkling with unexpected details, turning the book into a true treasure! Embark on the most exciting journey with old acquaintances, but be prepared for surprises, for things were not as they seem. Una Hart discusses where and by whom various fairy tale motifs were first recorded, the cross-cultural aspects of fairy tales, and their modifications. These are historical-humorous essays about beloved plots. The book is fully colored, with bright illustrations inside, designed in the style of medieval texts. The ribbon bookmark will not let you lose your place, should you even be able to stop! This edition would make a wonderful gift or complement your library.
