Book 2. The Fifteen-Year-Old Captain The whaling ship "Pilgrim" with passengers aboard heads to San Francisco. In the fight with a giant whale, almost the entire crew perishes, and the captain remaining on the ship is the fifteen-year-old sailor Dick Sand. To save the passengers, the young man must show courage, firmness of spirit, and resourcefulness, as the threat comes not only from the elements. There is a traitor aboard the ship.
